Citrulline Malate (Known as Citrulline, Citrulline Malate) Muscle Builder ![]() Boosts energy ![]() Antioxidant ![]() Part of the Amino Acid group ![]() Citrulline Malate is a combination of the amino acid citrulline and the organic salt malate. The unique combination offers athletes a potential way to improve performance, delay muscle fatigue and accelerate recovery.Citrulline Malate is useful for anyone participating in high-intensity exercise, including strength athletes, bodybuilders, cyclists and some runners (e.g middle-distance runners). As an intermediate in the urea cycle, Citrulline aids in the removal of endotoxins such as lactic acid and ammonia, which can impair exercise performance. These endotoxins are produced through intense physical activity, protein metabolism, and catabolic states. Research also suggests that citrulline is possibly more effective than arginine for enhancing plasma arginine levels. This is because of Citrulline's effects on endogenous arginine synthesis - meaning that Citrulline Malate may be a superior alternative to arginine for regulating nitric oxide production, growth hormone release, insulin and creatine production. Citrulline Malate has also been shown to (at doses as low as 6 grams a day) to significantly reduce muscle fatigue, increased ATP production by around 30%, and caused a dramatic increase in phosphocreatine levels after exercise. Approximately 3-6 grams of Citrulline should be consumed 30-45 minutes prior to exercise. Recent research has led to the production of a new rapidly absorbed form of Citrulline known as Citrulline Ethyl Ester HCL. This new form of Citrulline promises superior uptake, reducing wastage and giving you better results from lower doses. An effective way to use Citrulline Ethyl Ester HCL would be to combine it with a lower dose of Citrulline Malate. For example, 1.5 grams of Citrulline Malate combined with 1.5 grams of Citrulline Ethyl Ester HCL (providing a total of 3 grams of Citrulline) can be mixed with water and consumed 30-45 minutes before exercise.Citrulline dramatically speeds up the rate at which the metabolic by-products of exercise (such as lactic acid and ammonia) are removed from the working muscle. This lets you train better and harder. You'll also recover faster from each workout.Anecdotal reports from athletes and bodybuilders suggest that Citrulline works well with Beta-Alanine and L-Histidine, which both serve to raise carnosine concentrations in muscle. 1.
